The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards was a large Starfleet drydock and space station facility both on the surface of and in orbit of the planet Mars in the Sol system. It was a key construction and design facility in at least the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Notable history

The keel of the Excelsior-class USS Cantabrian (NCC-24705) was laid at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in 2312, and the ship was launched on 6 February 2314 from the same facility. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions)

The USS Prospect was relaunched from Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards with Captain John Greene at her helm in 2365. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Tzenkethi Incident")

Prior to his assignment to Deep Space 9, Benjamin Sisko was stationed at Utopia Planitia, where he assisted in the design work and flight tests of the Defiant-class starship prototype. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: "Emissary", "The Search, Part I")

The USS Republic was unable to assist the USS Enterprise-D during the Borg attack on Earth in 2367, or with the task force sent to recover survivors at Wolf 359, as she was undergoing a refit at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards during this time. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

In 2367, the USS Prospect spent a few months in repair and being upgraded at the Utopia Planitia facility. Flight controller Jennifer Drever took the Prospect out of a drydock at Utopia Planitia at one-quarter impulse once repairs were complete. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

The USS Prospect-A was launched from Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in 2371. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "Home")

Starfleet Corps of Engineers Lieutenant Commanders Antonio Fernandes and Ethan Arden were stationed at Utopia Planitia for at least part of the USS Cantabrian's refit between 2369 and 2372. Commander Kwong Ju'an, their supervisor, was also stationed there. The refit added several experimental technologies, including launch bays for two Titania-class scout ships and the HOLIE holographic system, and, in 2372, the Cantabrian was relaunched with Captain Noah Wrightson at the helm. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part One")

Starfleet cadet Lisa Oh and Cantabrian medical technician Nelson most likely started dating while the Cantabrian refit was nearly completed at Utopia Planitia. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part One")

During the Cantabrian's battle with Samantha Delaney and her Dark Starship in 2373, the Republic was again at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards for routine maintenance and in no state to assist defending Earth. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "By All Means Necessary")
