The USS Odyssey (NCC-71832) was an Galaxy-class starship in service in the 24th century. She was destroyed in a conflict with the Jem'Hadar in the Gamma Quadrant in 2370. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Jem'Hadar")
Her destruction spurred the Federation to consider the Dominion a threat. In 2371, they sent the Special Operations starship USS Prospect to attempt to make a peaceful first contact with the Founders. This failed. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "Pure Massacre")
