The type 8 shuttlecraft was an auxiliary space craft used by Federation and Starfleet starships and space stations during the latter half of the 24th century. The type 8 was a commonly-used shuttlecraft throughout the fleet in the 2370s. The type 8 was strongly based on the design of the type 6 shuttlecraft.
The type 8 shuttlecraft was capable of warp travel due to its warp drive. Its modular design allowed for at least two phaser emitters to be outfit on the shuttle.
