For information relating to hybrids in Star Trek canon, see interspecies reproduction. For more information relating to hybrids in Star Trek fanon, see hybrid.

A hybrid can refer to:

  • interspecies reproduction: when two or more animals, plants, or humanoids from different species reproduce.
  • intraspecies reproduction: when two or more animals, plants, or humanoids with different ethnicities or traits reproduce.

Hybrids between two species, like between Humans and Vulcans, were not without risks or issues. Vulcan hybrids like T'Piam could suffer from Vulcan Hybrid Societal Maladjustment Syndrome. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Bitter Sweet")

Some hybridization was as a result of genetic engineering. The M'Tar and Na'arbi altered other species, augmenting them with their own genetic material, to create hybrids. Daniel Radke was one such individual. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles; Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions)
