Drydock was a facility or installation dedicated to building, upgrading, and refitting not only water-based vessels but also starships and other space-faring vessels. Space-based drydock facilities could orbit a planet, be a space station or part of a starbase, or another type altogether. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture; Star Trek Generations; Star Trek: Enterprise: "In a Mirror, Darkly")

In 2365, several Starfleet starships were being refit in hidden drydocks around the Tzenkethi Coalition so the Tzenkethi Rebellion could commit false flag attacks in order to seize control from the Autarch and Tzenkethi ruling council in a coup d'état. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Tzenkethi Incident", "Rose Tint My World", "Mass Extinction", "The Cardassian Connection", "Cascade Failure", "The King Has Lost His Crown")

Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards had drydock facilities in their facilities orbiting Mars in the Sol system. (Star Trek: Voyager: "Relativity") In 2367, flight controller Jennifer Drever took the USS Prospect out of a drydock at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards at one-quarter impulse. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

In 2369, Captain Noah Wrightson offered Samantha D'Angelo the executive officer's position aboard the USS Cantabrian, but D'Angelo refused, stating she wanted to make sure the USS Christchurch got to drydock in safely. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part One")
