The Dominion War was a war fought between the Gamma Quadrant's Dominion and some Alpha Quadrant allies, including the Cardassian Union and the Breen Confederacy, and major Alpha Quadrant powers, including the United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire, and the Bajoran Republic, between 2373 and 2375. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)
Starfleet was preparing for a war with the Dominion at least a year prior to the war's start. Admiral Zahara Hogan informed USS Cantabrian commanding officer Captain Noah Wrightson that Starfleet resources were spread pretty thin and they could not commit more starships or manpower to a potential war with the Myhr'an on the opposite side of the Federation from the Bajoran wormhole. - Neither the USS Cantabrian-A or the USS Prospect-A were involved in the Dominion War as they were trapped in the Beta Quadrant for the war's duration after the Hanej Gateway was destroyed.
