The Borg were a group of cybernetic beings from different species linked in a hive mind and devoid of individuality. Their goal was perfection.

In late 2366, a Borg cube attacked the Federation. Starfleet admiral J.P. Hanson quickly assembled a 40-strong fleet at Wolf 359 to battle the Borg. This fleet engaged the Borg in the Battle of Wolf 359 in early 2367 and included the USS Carnarvon, USS Endeavour, USS Kyushu, USS Melbourne, USS Princeton, USS Rebellious and USS Saratoga; the Borg defeated the fleet except the Endeavour. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

During the battle, some officers such as Lee and Amy Aster, as well as civilians such as Esthappen and Rahel Singh were assimilated; others such as Velutha Singh and Jennifer Sisko died in the battle; while others such as Benjamin and Jake Sisko, Margot Delorit and ch'Arus survived the battle. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "An Innocent Time", "Devil's Cube", "Dream a Little Dream of Me")

The Borg approach to Earth caused a mass evacuation of civilians to evacuation shelters all over the planet. In Chicago, Starfleet officers took to the streets to keep the peace and protect the civilians. Non-security division personnel such as Starfleet Medical counselors were enlisted to assist. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

The USS Enterprise-D defeated the Borg cube in Earth's orbit, destroying the Borg threat. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

During sessions with Counselor Daniel Radke after the Borg threat had passed, Corey Aster kept projecting a hybrid dream-flashback of his parents' assimilation at his grandmother's house in Shorewood, Illinois on Earth. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Dream a Little Dream of Me")

The USS Prospect crew discovered an alien starship under Amila Thon's command, discovering they were from the 27th century Federation observing the Battle of Wolf 359. Several members of the future crew were assimilated as a result of the Prospect's interference. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")

In 2372, the USS Cantabrian found a derelict Borg cube in the Devil's Cradle. Something more powerful had defeated the Borg, and another alien ship emerged from a rift to engage the Borg once their ship came back on-line. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "An Innocent Time", "Devil's Cube")
