The Battle of Wolf 359 was the first major engagement between the Federation and the Borg and occurred in near the star Wolf 359 in the Wolf system in 2367. By the battle's end, 39 Starfleet ships and over 11,000 lives were lost.
During the battle the USS Rebellious attempted to stop the Borg cube by making modulations to its navigational deflector, but, once fired, the Borg sent a feedback loop, severely crippling the ship. First officer Elizabeth Singh and Regina Meyer survived the assault, and, in their attempt to escape, witnessed the Borg leading away survivors, including Esthappen and Rahel Singh. Eleven survivors escaped the Rebellious, including Elizabeth Singh and Meyer, before the ship exploded. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Devil's Cube")
The USS Prospect arrived moments after the battle's conclusion to find an alien ship appearing to be communicating with the Borg cube. With the alien ship not communicating with them, the Prospect pursued and disabled the ship, boarding it to find the ship was a 27th century ship full of historians and scientists. The Prospect returned to help with the recovery effort at Wolf 359. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")
Anne Lansing, in command of the USS Worsaae, and her crew assisted in the rescue and recovery effort after the battle. In addition, counselor Daniel Radke, engineer Jason Athelstan and several Starfleet Medical personnel accompanied Lansing and her crew, helping the survivors. The USS Arlington and USS Barrington were among the other starships helping in the recovery effort. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child")
Daniel Radke and other counselors continued to help heal the mental scars, with Benjamin and Jake Sisko being Radke's patients. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "The Burnt Child") He and the others returned to Earth to continue the counseling, with his roll of patients growing to include victim's family members, including Corey Aster.
