Åse Sorensen was a Starfleet science officer aboard the USS Marsh until its destruction in 2372, whereby she was transferred and assumed killed at a Myhr'an internment camp in the same year. She was the wife of Kristian Sorensen and mother of Synni and Bror Sorensen.

Sometime before 2372 aboard the Marsh, Sorensen met and befriended fellow crewmate Yh'ahni. Over the time of their friendship, the two grew closer, and Sorensen made Yh'ahni a surrogate part of her family. Yh'ahni and Sorensen made a pact that if anything happened to either one of them, the other would look after the injured or deceased's affairs. After the Marsh's destruction by the Myhr'an at Starbase Expanse 4 in 2372, Yh'ahni believed Sorensen, her family and their crewmates to be dead; however, further investigation revealed the Myhr'an abducted countless Federation civilians and Starfleet crew during the exercise to use as raw materials to build Myhr'an clones. Believing Sorensen to be in trouble, Yh'ahni wanted to live up to her end of the bargain, venturing into Myhr'an-controlled space to liberate the remaining survivors. Upon arrival at the internment camp, Yh'ahni found Åse Sorensen was already dead, but her family was still alive, and she rescued them. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Two Hit, One Stone")

Åse Sorensen gets her first name from ABBA group member Agnetha Fältskog's middle name. Like her namesake, Åse was Swedish.
